A week full of awards for Greek hotels and islands

22/10/2014

It has been a great week in terms of recognition of the beauty of Greece as a travel destination.

Santorini and Skiathos were included in the List of the Top 30 Islands in the World in 2014 according to Conde Nast Traveler’s Readers’ Choice Awards 2014.

Specifically, the sunset of Oia is one of the highlights of Santorini. No wonder why Santorini has been the inspiration for Plato’s Atlantis!

On the other hand, Skiathos is praised for its ‘idyllic’, ‘sandy, picture-perfect beaches’. The producers of Mamma Mia! could not have picked up a better island.

The list of the Top 25 Hotels in Europe according to well-established travel websites, such as Travel + Leisure, Fodor and TripAdvisor, included three Greek resorts.

Specifically, Perivolas in Santorini was in sixth place, Blue Palace Resort in Elounda, Crete was placed 16th and Lindos Blu in Rhodes was No 22.

Perivolas was selected because of the combination of ‘breathtaking views with the luxury of absolute tranquility, beautiful architecture, warm hospitality, excellent cuisine and an inspiring land and seascape’.

Blue Palace Resort offers ’emblematic views to the relics of Spinalonga island’, ‘the perfect hideaway to combine island luxe accommodation, authentic cuisine and a soothing retreat for the senses’.

Lindos Blu Hotel & Suites guarantees unimpeded relaxation. No wonder since it is an is the first adults-only hotel in the cosmopolitan island of Rhodes.
