During this Excavations and Stories from the Past Family Tour, our family-friendly archaeologist will accompany you on a journey through time, where she brings the past and present to life.
Embark on a unique family driving tour to historical sites which include a modern country house, a traditional mill, a venetian tower, a medieval church, and a byzantine bath. The kids will be fascinated by the stories and history behind each place, and they can ask as many questions as they like!
Weather permitting, the tour will then go over to the island of Mochlos. Here, there is a settlement and cemetery nearly 5000 years old, and every year excavations reveal something new. In 2005, a bronze dragonfly was discovered, and this has led to many theories about the people who lived there. Your specialized guide will explain it all, keeping the kids engaged and interested throughout.
This tour is an ideal way to explore an area not frequently visited by big tourist groups, and to get a deeper understanding of the history behind the island. Kids will enjoy the legends and mythology that they hear, and parents will appreciate the facts and knowledge that an archaeologist guide will provide. There is even a booklet given to everyone, detailing the places visited with maps and other references.
In addition to our Excavations and Stories from the Past Family Tour, Kids Love Greece also offers a number of other guided tours and activities on Crete. Active families might enjoy this hiking activity through olive groves, and star gazers will love this star watching and mythology night in Crete.
