Kardamyli

Kardamyli is a small village by the sea, just 35 kilometers from Kalamata. Steeped in history, this village still goes by its ancient name. In Homer’s Iliad, Agamemnon offers control of Kardamyli (and six other villages) to Achilles to get him to return to the battle during the siege of Troy. Refugees from Mystra came to Kardamyli after the sacking of 1460. Theodoros Koloktronis and other chieftains planned the revolution of 1821 in Kardamyli.

Explore this historic village with your children. We recommend stopping by the tourist shops to sample the traditional products on sale. For the best pastitsio you’ll ever taste – not to mention a gorgeous view of the sunset – head to “Lela’s” restaurant. Just a few feet away from “Lela’s,” the “Tikla” café serves refreshing cocktails and ice cream.
