Wander the streets of Mykonos Town

Mykonos Town is one of the most picturesque old towns in Greece. It is the ideal place to wander around and be lost in the narrow alleys. Make a stop at the Archaeological Museum to discover an interesting collection of jewelry, figurines, funerary statues and pottery of thousand of years old. Do you kids like ships? Take them to the Aegean Maritime Museum, where they can see a wide range of nautical instruments and ancient vessels. The Folk Museum, as well as Lena’s House, is also worth a visit. Mykonos town has many lovely souvenir shops. Kids will love buying souvenirs for their classmates or teachers back home!

You can also book your Private Walking Tour and even combine it with food stops.

    Meet Petros the Pelican

As you wander around, search for Petros the Pelican, the fabled resident and famous mascot of Mykonos. He is definitely the most sociable Pelican you have ever met!

    Go to the beach

Honestly, there are so many beaches to choose in Mykonos, your choice all depends on your mood! There are so many beach options that you can swim in a different beach every day, if you want to.

For example, if you like a quiet beach with basic infrastructure, Agios Ioannis is perfect for you.

Kalo Livadi beach is located on the southeastern shore of Mykonos. Alluring, inviting and with shimmering, crystal-clear turquoise waters, the golden sandy beach of Kalo Livadi offers an amazing view to the Aegean archipelago and Naxos Island. One of the longest and most popular beaches, where you can feel the immensity of the sea and the free-spirited wind in combination with excellent facilities and food.

If you like some action but not as much as the crazy party scene, go to Platys Gialos, Psarou Beach or Ornos. Ftelia is also a very nice beach.

In Panormos Beach are good restaurants and kids love the gigantic bean bags in the trendy beach club.

We particularly like Agrari Beach because it offers a good mix of tourists and locals.  Agrari Beach is ideal for kids due to the calm waters, water sports, and the small playground. There is also a cafe and bar.

Water sports are available at most of Mykonos beaches and we also recommend you to discover the underwater world while snorkeling.

Note that the beaches on the Northside of the island can get windy and rough in July and August. On those days, choose for a beach along the South coast of Mykonos because they are protected from the wind.

There is also a service where you can book your own sunbed in advance on the popular beaches (with popular beach clubs). Parents find such service very handy!

Take A Picture in Little Venice

Yes, you read correctly! Little Venice is in Mykonos and not in Italy! Little Venice is located on the western part of Mykonos Town and it is a row of buildings that have been constructed right on the sea’s edge. Look how close the balconies of the houses are to the water! Your kids will love to hear that Little Venice was a great spot for the loading and unloading of goods by pirates during the 16th and 17th centuries.

    Sunset at the Windmills

The windmills of Mykonos are the most recognized landmarks of Mykonos. These picturesque windmills are positioned in the western part of the town and serve as a remembrance to the island’s wheat and bread industry, which spanned many years ago. A great place to take a photo for your album and a romantic spot to visit at sunset!

    Visit famous landmarks

You will recognize the Paraportiani church easily because it is widely featured in many books and postcards. There are over 800 chapels and churches in Mykonos but the Paraportiani church is the most unique due to its construction. It combines four different architectural styles; Byzantine, vernacular, traditional and western style.

If lighthouses fascinate your kids, you should visit the one at Armenistis. Located only 7 km north-east of Mykonos Town, this lighthouse of Mykonos is built at a majestic place. From here, the whole family will enjoy stunning views of the nearby island of Tinos and observe boats arriving and leaving from Mykonos port. Do not forget your drawing pads!

    Go-Kart

If you love karts, visit Mykonos Raceland, one of the best Go-Kart outdoor tracks in Greece. The track is 750 meters and is located in the middle of the island. The Go-Kart Mykonosraceland is pen from April to November daily from 10:00 am (morning) – 2:00 am (night).
