Kastania
Kastania village lies between three slopes of Mount Taygetus. A walk around Kastania is truly an enchanting experience. You’ll observe that the roofs of the houses are made of unique stone tiles. The village is full of Byzantine chapels decorated with rich iconography, like Aghios Georgios at the entrance to the village. The Dourakis Tower, where the famous chieftain Theodoros Kolokotronis once stayed, is particularly beautiful.
When you get hungry, the “Klimataria” tavern in the center of the village is the perfect place to eat with your kids. The house specialty is Mrs. Georgia’s homemade braised rooster with spaghetti. The kids will love her juicy meatballs.
