Where to stay in Athens: top picks by our readers

Finding accommodation in Athens can be challenging due to its size and vast selection of hotels, but worry not as we have been doing the hard work for you!

Athens

You may be wondering in which part of the city it is better to stay i.e. north, south, or in the city centre. We strongly advise you to stay in the centre, the heart of the city, as this is where most of the monuments are located, including the famous Acropolis. Going to the beach from the centre is quite easy by public transport or by taxi (which tends to be quite cheap) and should take 30-40 minutes depending on traffic.

So city centre it is – and here are some of our suggestions:

Hilton Athens:

Hilton 5

The epitome of luxury, Hilton Athens is conveniently located in the heart of Athens and the good news is that it is also family friendly. The hotel is a good base for sightseeing as it is only 500mts from the National Gallery, for example, and it is also close to the up and coming district of Kolonaki with its abundance of trendy restaurants and bars. Don’t forget to go to the hotel’s famous rooftop ‘Galaxy Bar’ which has a breathtaking view.
