Enjoy the heart of Athens
We will arrange your transfer from Eleftherios Venizelos airport to your hotel. The first day is at your leisure as we understand you might want to get some rest seeing as you will have had a long journey.
However, if you have arrived at a convenient time you may want to see a bit of Athens even on this first day. You can enjoy a stroll in the city centre, perhaps taking in Syntagma Square and the Greek Parliament. Alternatively, you could visit Plaka and Monastiraki, two of the most beautiful neighbourhoods of the city centre. You will soon realize that both are a sightseeing paradise where historical monuments blend harmoniously with city life.
We can recommend family friendly restaurants in the centre for when you feel peckish – or even book one for you.
An insight to the Golden Age of Pericles
After breakfast we will take you to the Acropolis and the Acropolis Museum. The tour is private, specially designed for families, and lasts for 3 hours. Walking time is 40 approximately minutes. Don’t worry that the children will get bored or tired as our guide will keep them interested and entertained.
If you want to take your family visit to the Acropolis to a completely different level, we highly recommend the amazing Acropolis’ 3D app for families. The Acropolis 3D app is actually a virtual time traveling gadget that will make you feel you have become part of the glorious era of the Golden Age of Pericles. With the use of mini iPads, you will be able to zoom in and out, and get a closer view to all the details of the monuments as they used to be in ancient times.
There are some more kid friendly tours that we suggest. Click here to find out our favourite list.
After the tour you can visit the neighbourhood of Psyrri for some seriously delicious Mediterranean food. There are traditional tavernas and some of them have live Greek folklore music. If you want us to book a kid friendly restaurant for you, just let us know.
Discovering more of Athens!
The day is yours to do as you please. After breakfast why not head off to the Attica Zoo which is the largest zoo in Greece. The zoo has more than 350 animal species including everything from exotic animals to Greek fauna, and the brown bear is the main attraction. Make sure you see the dolphin show which your children will just love.
You can combine this with a visit to the nearby McArthur Glen Mall. It is a shopping paradise for all the family and also has interesting architecture as it is one of the few open-air malls in Europe. Additionally, you’ll find several kid friendly restaurants if you fancy a spot of lunch.

Time to hop on a ferry and go to Santorini
Are you ready to move on to Santorini? After breakfast you will take the ferry to Santorini, one of the most popular islands of Greece and world famous for its incredible sunsets.
You and your little fellows may feel a bit tired when you get there and you might just want to relax at the hotel. Afterwards, take a stroll and get familiar with your bearings – the kids will undoubtedly feel excited to discover their new surroundings.
Enjoy a lazy coffee or a rich Mediterranean dinner as you look out at the endless sea which lies in front of you. If you can’t be bothered to pick out a family friendly restaurant, let us know and we can happily pick it for you.
What about Santorini’s prehistoric town and volcano?
Take your time to enjoy a nice breakfast at the hotel and make plans for the day. After all, you need to discover Santorini’s history and its famous volcano.
We would recommend you visit the Akrotiri Excavations, one of the most important prehistoric settlements of the Aegean that dates back to the Late Neolithic times (at least the 4th millennium BC). The city remains intact due to its volcanic activity and to date only 3% is excavated.
The site is covered by a pergola which makes it cool and airy. This is really helpful on a hot summer day as it keeps the kids comfortable from the heat. You could make your visit seem like a small adventure and pretend to travel back in time when the settlement was full of life. You definitely need the services of a guide as only limited information is provided. You can either book a family friendly private tour with us, or find a guide on site.
Another alternative is to visit the famous volcano of Santorini. It is renowned for its spectacular caldera surrounded by steep colourful cliffs and endless sea. The journey to the volcano can be quite hot, especially in the summer, but provided your children can stand the heat it will be worth it. You will be soon compensated by the hot springs and mud bath that follow straight after.
Note: We can organize these visits for you. We can also arrange lunch or dinner to kid friendly restaurants.
Santorini - so much to do, so much to see
You might want to have a lazy day or maybe you still have the energy to discover more.
Santorini is not famous for its kid friendly beaches but if you enjoy swimming we suggest Monolithos beach. It is probably the most kid-friendly beach of the island with lots of sand and shallow water. Perissa and Kamari also have pretty beaches, but the water drops off very steeply at most beaches.
Head to the beach early, before the crowds arrive and the sand heats up. We highly recommend water shoes for the kids.
A one day round the island excursion or a one day boat trip could be another interesting choice. Alternatively you could make your little fellows happy with a visit to the Industrial Tomato Museum, the Waterpark, or the Art Space – Wine Museum.
Make sure you find time to visit Oia which is the most famous place from where to take in the sunset!
Note: We can organize these visits for you. We can also arrange transport to take you to a kid friendly beach.
A last stroll in Santorini
If you have time, head out for a last stroll after breakfast. We feel sure that you’ll be sad to leave this beautiful island but take the kids minds off the departure by asking them to take a few more photos, look out for dolphins in the sea, or take a note book and crayons and ask them to draw the most beautiful sunset they saw. Add some excitement with a few stories about volcanos and Greek mythology, not forgetting to reward their efforts with ice cream and crepes!
Now, unfortunately, it’s time to take the ferry back to Athens (Piraeus). Transport will be arranged to take you from your hotel to the port, and likewise you will be met in Piraeus and taken to the airport.
We won’t say ‘goodbye’ but ‘see you again soon’!
