Are There Any Special Days When The Acropolis Museum is Closed or Has Extended Hours?

Are there any special days when the Acropolis Museum is closed or has extended hours?

That's a good question. To answer the question quickly, yes, there are some days when the opening hours are changed and some other days when the museum is completely closed. These days are:

  • Closed: 1 January, Orthodox Easter Sunday, 1 May, 25 & 26 December
  • Reduced Christmas hours: On Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve (24 & 31 December), the Museum is open from 9 am to 3 pm.
  • Reduced Easter Hours: On Orthodox Good Friday, the Museum is open from 12 noon to 6 pm; on Orthodox Holy Saturday, from 8 am to 3 pm.
  • Extended opening hours: On the evenings of the August full moon and the European Night of Museums, the Museum is open until midnight.
  • Free admission days: 6 March (Melina Mercouri Day), 25 March (National holiday), 18 May (International Day of Museums), 28 October (National holiday).

If you have further questions about prices, opening hours, etc., you can take a look at our guide to the Acropolis Museum here. Also, we would be happy to welcome you on one of our great family tours at the museum
