Introduce your little ones to the wonders of the ancient world with our ‘Play and Learn in the Ancient Agora’ tour. Blending the old and the new; history and fun, this activity is a perfect way to spend an afternoon in the city. Alongside a fully qualified, family friendly guide, you and yours will enjoy an unforgettable experience of ancient Athens.
Taking place in and around the Agora, the tour is based on a mixture of role-playing and art. You’ll be invited to act out myths about the Greek gods, or use your creative skills to make a souvenir to take home.
For example, the tour may begin with a mythology-themed card game. This will then guide you to the Temple of Hephaestus, where you’ll pretend you are an architect exploring the ancient temples! Then, it’s a visit to Tholos, the ancient Parliament, where you’ll learn about democracy (and tyranny) in ancient Greece.
The next stop is the Monument of the Eponymous Heroes, where you will learn everything about the daily life of Athenians. After, it’s time to go hunting for the Tritons and the Giants at the Odeon of Agrippa! The last stop will be a journey to the Stoa of Attalos, where you’ll learn about what toys were like in the ancient era.
Creative, exciting and perfect for kids, our Play and Learn in the Ancient Agora tour is sure to be a highlight of your trip.

We had a fabulous 2 hour “Ancient Agora – play and learn” tour led by the wonderful Evita! Such an interesting tour with great little activities for the children – they learnt how to write their names in Greek, solve a moral dilemma, how the democratic system worked and lots more. As well as visiting this beautiful site we also went inside the museum which has amazing artifacts and Evita pointed out really interesting things for us. Evita was delightful! We learnt so much about the history of the Agora and all of us really enjoyed it. Thank you.
