Imagine your family stepping into one of the oldest remaining olive mills on Naxos Island and learning about olive oil production from the late 1700s to today. The air is filled with the aroma of freshly baked homemade goodies, and rustic stone buildings echo the history of olive oil production.
Our adventure begins with a family-friendly guided tour of the olive press, where we learn traditional olive oil extraction methods. In the museum room, we discover the entire process from harvesting to pressing olives for their precious oil. We then enjoy a professional olive oil tasting. We’ll pair extra virgin olive oils with local Naxian flavors and products.
The experience culminates in a hands-on baking session, making olive bread using traditional recipes. We also learn to bake olive oil biscuits, blending flour, olive oil, and local herbs into savory delights, discovering their cultural significance.
Relax and have fun with art on burlap, used for olive picking. Enjoy sack races and learn about games played by kids in Ancient Greece.
