Santorini is a special place like no other and our Santorini Uncovered for families Tour captures the best of the island along with tons of hidden gems you might not get to see without our local insider family guide by your side.
You will visit traditional villages, discover whitewashed back alleys, see an amazing beach with a spectacular lunar-like landscape, sip a coffee with a traditional spoon sweet in a cute local café and end with a delicious picnic on the beach and a jump in the crystal clear waters of the White beach.
We’ll start our tour from the fabulous village of Oia, Santorini’s crown jewel. We will explore off the beaten tracks to discover the back alleys of a pastel-colored neighborhood. We will take you back to 1613 B.C when the largest volcanic eruption took place and find out why most people believe that Santorini is Plato’s “Atlantis”. Of course, we can’t leave Oia without trying the famous handmade ice cream!
Next, we will drive to the best-preserved castle-village on the island called Emporio, where the buildings are still inhabited. While exploring this peaceful settlement, we’ll wander through the narrow alleys steeped in medieval charm, then stop for coffee and a traditional spoon sweet in a local cafe.
During this tour, you will also learn more about the infamous pirate Barbarossa, and how pirates repeatedly raided Santorini and the neighbouring Aegean islands.
Finally, you’ll discover the historic hiding grounds of the locals during pirate raids and visit a secluded beach where we’ll enjoy its unique, lunar-like yellow landscape and a picnic with products selected by you from a local old school grocery!
