Day By Day Itinerary

Day 1: Myth Meets Play
Location: Ambelos Apartments and Studios
- Check in at 3 pm. Receive a warm welcome to Ambelos, the Camp’s serene base with stunning views and amenities.
- Begin your journey with the “Birth of the Gods“, exploring the fascinating origins of Greek mythology.
- Discover the story of Ambelos, the mythological figure connected to Dionysus, and learn how he inspired the name of the Camp’s location.
Evening
- Welcome Dinner.
- Treasure hunt activity with mythological clues around the Ambelos grounds.
For independent families/ friends traveling together

Day 2: Myth Meets Art
Location: Lassithi Plateau
Morning
- Breakfast at Ambelos and departure by bus for Lassithi Plateau at 9 am.
- Explore the Greek Mythology Thematic Park, featuring captivating exhibits of famous myths, with an activity to spot mythological figures.
- Engage in a creative gourd painting workshop, inspired by mythical creatures and symbols.
- Try Cretan dishes made of locally grown ingredients in a traditional taverna.
Evening
- Return at Ambelos around 5 pm.
- Free evening.

Day 3: Myth Meets History
Morning
- Breakfast at Ambelos and departure by bus for Lassithi Plateau at 9 am.
- Visit Melidoni Cave, a sanctuary dedicated to Hermes and Talos. Participate in a storytelling session, sharing the myths of Talos and Zeus’s gifts to Europa.
- Learn about stalactites and stalagmites while enjoying the breathtaking natural beauty of the cave.
- Visit the Honey Museum to learn about Aristaeus, the god of beekeeping, and Melissa, the nymph who fed Zeus honey, followed by a tasting experience (allergy-friendly options available).
Afternoon
- Lunch at a local taverna. Head back to Ambelos around 2 pm.
- Relax.
Evening
- Join a cooking session at Ambelos to create myth-inspired dishes and discover the symbolic significance of ingredients like olive oil (Athena), figs (Demeter) and pomegranate (Persephone).

Day 4: Myth Meets Mountains
Location: Psiloritis Mountain and Ideon Cave
Morning
- Breakfast at Ambelos and departure by bus for Psiloritis Mountain at 9 am.
- Hike to the Cave of Zeus (Ideon Andron), where he was raised by Amalthea and Melissa, for a dramatic reenactment of Zeus’s childhood.
- Write poetry inspired by the mountain view reflecting on themes of power and divinity.
- Experience sheep milking at the traditional village of Anogeia.
- Lunch at a local taverna.
- Head back to Ambelos around 5 pm.
Evening
- Craft wings inspired by Icarus while reflecting on the themes of ambition and caution.
- Free evening.

Day 5: Myth Meets Cosmos
Morning
- Breakfast at Ambelos and departure by bus at 9 am.
- Explore the myths of the sea and sky through art and storytelling, in Agia Galini, on the south side of the island.
Afternoon:
- Reflecting time by the beach.
- Free lunch.
- Arrival at Ambelos around 5 pm
Evening:
- Closing ceremony at Ambelos: Greek dancing and star gazing.

Day 6: Optional – Myth Meets Labyrinths
Extending your trip
For those wishing to extend the adventure:
- Option A: Relax and reflect at Ambelos amidst its tranquil surroundings.
- Option B: Explore the iconic Knossos Palace and delve into the myths of King Minos and the Labyrinth with a guided tour.

Ambelos Apartments and Studios
“Ambelos” is a family-run complex located close to the sea-side village of Agia Pelagia, around a 25-minute drive from Heraklion Airport. The nearest beach in 5 min drive. Ambelos strategic location (in the middle of Crete) make it the ideal base for excursions to all different parts of the island.
The complex is found on a hill overlooking the Aegean Sea and the Cretan mountainous scenery. Its wider set up resembles a small traditional village, surrounded by olive trees, vineyards and colorful flowers. Click HERE for more information about Ambelos.
