Elounda

Elounda is undoubtedly one of the most attractive places in Crete where the views over the many small bays are stunning. Both Gorgona Taverna  in Plaka and Ferryman Taverna in Elounda offer more unusual mouth watering dishes. What will make your meal even more memorable is the incredible view of the island of Spinalonga.  It is only 800 metres from Plaka and has thousands of visitors every year.

If you have older children it is definitely worth visiting Spinalonga. It was the last leper colony in Europe, closing its doors a mere 60 years ago.   There is a regular boat service to Spinalonga from both Plaka and Elounda.
