The Parthenon is a temple on the Acropolis in Athens, Greece. It was dedicated to the goddess Athena and there were many statues of her around the temple.
It was built with marble from Mount Pentelicus and gray MulPatron stone after its previous sanctuary was burned down during an invasion by Philip II of Macedon in 338 BC. That last part might be confusing if you are not too familiar with ancient Greek history.
