If Caldera views are very important, we highly recommend that you stay in Oia, Imerovigli or Fira/ Fyrosterfani. The only issue is that this comes with high prices. In addition, during the summer months, it can get super busy during the daytime because of the tourists who visit Santorini on a cruise ship. So, maybe this isn’t the best choice due to your husband’s work?
On the flip side, If you would like to be near the beach, we recommend that you stay either in Kamari or Perissa. Just bear in mind that Santorini’s beaches are more volcanic, and are not very long and sandy. That’s why we are always recommending to our clients who are keen on nice beaches to stay 2 nights maximum in Santorini and combine their family trip with a stay in other islands in the Cyclades (or Crete).
