Our private Athens Mythology Tour of Acropolis Hill and the Ancient Agora is a unique way to fully immerse yourself in some of the world-famous monuments of Athens. Fun, family friendly and exciting, join the tour and introduce your kids to the fascinating myths that flow around one of the world’s oldest cities.
Together with an expert guide specialized in Greek mythology, you’ll visit Athens’ two most important archeological sites, Acropolis Hill and the Ancient Agora. Here, ancient Athenians would gather to debate, decide on important issues and have their voices heard. Step inside the birthplace of democracy and feel the power of history as it’s explained to you in an engaging and creative way!
While on the tour, you’ll make your way first to the Acropolis, where your guide will show you around such sites as the Parthenon, the Theater of Dionysus, the Temple of Athena Nike and the Temple of Erechtheion, as well as the Sanctuary of Asclepius.
While at the Acropolis, you’ll be given an iPad that’s been preloaded with an extra augmented reality program. This new ‘touring’ tool will help you visualize how the Acropolis looked in ancient times. You’ll be able to see a full 3D colored reconstruction of the 5th century BC statues, buildings, and ancient objects – it’s a truly incredible experience. Afterward, you’ll walk down to the Ancient Agora, strolling around the ancient grounds, then concluding the day at the Temple of Hephaestus.
This fun and original tour presents a great alternative to the standard mythological guides. Neither too heavy nor too academic, it offers a fun insight into Athenian society and lets kids imagine the rise and fall of ancient Athens. It has a carefully crafted storyline, curated by a professional storyteller who specializes in Greek mythology, allowing for an educational yet fun day for all.
