“the most ancient temples to the gods, in the middle of Athens…” – Percy Jackson

Our family-friendly guide trained in Percy Jackson will meet you at your hotel after breakfast and guide you to the sacred hill of the Acropolis. As soon as you climb up the hill, you will be astonished by the magnificent views of the Parthenon.

The Parthenon temple was constructed in the so-called Ancient Golden Age and dedicated to the Olympian Goddess Athena, the city’s patron deity. Our guide will tell you myths and stories related to the Acropolis and keep your kids captivated. Percy Jackson fans will visit the place where Athena (the mother of Annabeth) and Poseidon (the father of Percy) fought.

If you want to see the Acropolis from an entirely different perspective, we highly recommend the amazing Kids Love Greece Acropolis’ 3D app for families. This app is a virtual time-travelling gadget.  With the use of mini iPads, you will be able to zoom in and out and get a closer view of all the details of the monuments as they used to be in ancient times.

Our next stop is the Acropolis Museum. Here you will see all the artifacts that have been found during excavations at the Acropolis. With the help of our licensed family guide, your kids will be kept engaged by the intriguing stories behind the exhibition.

This private combined tour of the Acropolis and the Acropolis Museum lasts about 3 hours and is specially designed just for families. The walking time is approximately 40 minutes. In case you get tired, we can allow time for resting or a snack.

After the Acropolis Museum visit, we will stop for a lunch break in the area before heading to Cape Sounion. You can also choose to have lunch in a seaside fish taverna. After lunch, your guide will take you to the Temple of Poseidon. This temple on the top of Cape Sounion was dedicated to Poseidon, the god of the sea.

According to mythology, this was also the spot where Aegeus threw himself into the sea when he saw the black sails of the ship and believed that his son Theseus – who had gone to Knossos to fight the Minotaur – was dead. For this reason, the sea was called Aegean Sea.

Watching the sunset from the temple overlooking the sea is an unforgettable experience for the whole family. At the end of the day, we will go back to Athens and drop you off at your hotel.

During this Athens’ tour, your licensed private guide will take you to up the famous sacred hill of the Acropolis. Explaining what the Acropolis was for and weaving together tales from Greek mythology, your guide will show you the Parthenon, the sanctury of the Goddess Athena. You will be astonished by the magnificent views and the various myths and stories related to Athena. If you are a fan of Percy Jackson, you will also see the spot where Athena (the mother of Annabeth) and Poseidon (the father of Percy) fought!

To find out what the monuments of the Acropolis used to look like in Ancient Greece, your family will also be using a virtual ‘time-travelling’ iPad.

Acropolis museum in Athens

After lunch, you will have a chance to admire the findings of the Acropolis in the Acropolis Museum, one of the most famous and most important museums in Europe and the world.

Your guide will keep the kids engaged by storytelling and interactive games while telling you more about the exhibits. You will have plenty of time to see the entire exhibition, the Lego Acropolis and the excavations underneath the museum.

Enjoy an afternoon along the Athenian Riviera before admiring the Temple of Poseidon at sunset. Listen to tales from Greek Mythology and stop off for a swim!

The Temple of Poseidon tour is designed so that you are able to experience the sunset at this remarkable archaeological site. Before that though, there are some fun hours ahead!

After pick-up from Athens, we will take you along the Athens Riviera – the coastline that stretches on to Cape Sounion. Soak up the views, and listen to our guide relate some of the history of Athens, as well as tales from Greek Mythology. They’ll even explain how the Percy Jackson books were influenced by Greek Mythology, along with the differences between some versions.

Our local expert guides will also be able to show you the best swimming spots on the way. Concerned that the water may not be warm enough at the time of year that you are visiting? Don’t be! If the water’s cold, we can take you to Vouliagmeni thermal lake instead. These relaxing waters are warm at any time of year.

The Temple of Poseidon is located on the very edge of Cape Sounion. This ancient Greek temple has stood here for thousands of years, and is in an almost magical position with incredible views. Our guide will take you around the archaeological site, explaining the history of the temple, as well as myths and legends related to the God Poseidon.

Your little Percy Jackson fans will love finding out more about Percy’s father, and they should also ask if the temple is part of a ‘Sacred Triangle’. It will make sense later on the tour! We still stay at the Temple of Poseidon until sunset to admire the wonderful colors of the sky.

During the Percy Jackson Delphi tour your family will visit the archaeological site and the museum of Delphi on mainland Greece.

Your guide will meet you at your hotel and will take you by luxury vehicle to the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Delphi, located 2 1/2 hours away from Athens. During the road trip, your guide will go into some history and legends that surround this mysterious complex.

Oracle of the World Visit Delphi with Kids who love Percy Jackson

Known as the Navel of the World, Delphi became the most important religious center and sanctuary in the ancient Greek world. During your tour, we’ll reveal who the Oracle was and offer different theories behind the religious rites practised here. We’ll also talk about the connections between the Percy Jackson books and the Oracle at Delphi.

The origins of the Oracle of Delphi are shown in Percy Jackson’s Greek Gods. Originally, it was a spring that whispered the future to those who listen. The Oracle of Delphi appeared when Percy Jackson was told by Chiron to get a prophecy, so he could go on a quest. If you are a Percy Jackson fan, you may remember the old Oracle in the book The Last Olympian:

“I foresee the future. I cannot change it”

You will also visit the ancient theatre, an ancient stadium and the museum. Our engaging guide presents the site and museum in a way which not only explains what you are seeing but also fires up the imagination. You’ll easily be able to picture yourself as a pilgrim making their way to Delphi, or even as an athlete taking part in the games here.

With a stop off at a local village for lunch, awesome viewing points, and countless photo opportunities, we will return to your hotel.

This is a trip all the family will love!

At about an hour’s drive from Athens, we will reach Corinth for the first stop of this trip. The famous Corinth Canal is an impressive narrow land bridge that connects the Peloponnese with the rest of the mainland of Greece. We will stop at a great place to take lots of photos. After stretching your legs here, we will then continue the short drive (approximately 15 minutes drive) to Ancient Corinth.

The city-state of Ancient Corinth was one of the most important city-states in antiquity. Our guide will show you around the site and tell you more about the mythology and legends attached to the area. This includes the story of the Sorceress Medea. You kids may already know of her from the Percy Jackson book The Lost Hero but now they will hear so much more. They may even be shocked at the true nature of the myth!

Percy Jackson Tour of Ancient Corinth and Epidaurus – Day Trip from Athens

According to Greek mythology, Poseidon, Percy Jackson’s father, disputed the validity of Corinth’s patronage with Helios, the titan ruler of the sun. The issue went to arbitration and the sea god was given the surrounding land of Isthmia and became the patron god of Corinth.

At the archaeological site of Ancient Corinth, you will visit the Temple of God Apollo as well as the Roman Forum, the public platform where St. Paul stood when he preached and taught in Corinth. You will also get to visit the Archaeological Museum of Corinth. Kids will love to watch their favorite gods as impressive statues, along with the Roman emperors who later held the site.

Our final stop before leaving Corinth will be at the Acrocorinth. This imposing fortress at the top of the hill overlooking Ancient Corinth, is the city’s acropolis. Every army though history has held this strategic spot; Greek, Roman, Frank, Persian and Ottoman. After you admire the Temple of Aphrodite and admire the beautiful views, we will continue our mythological journey to Epidaurus.

In the afternoon we will visit the Epidaurus, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It used to be the most popular healing center of ancient times and is considered the first hospital in the world. Together with your specialized family guide, you will visit the Ancient Theatre, the Temples of Artemis and Asclepios, as well as other ancient monuments, sports and hospital facilities.

The Ancient Theatre of Epidaurus is the best-preserved ancient theatre in Greece, and it is world-famous for its acoustics. Test the sound of the place by climbing up the highest stone stairs at the top of the theatre and drop a coin. It is said that the acoustics of the theatre allow for a coin to be heard from the highest seat!

The Temple of Asclepios was a sacred healing place devoted to god Asclepius, the son of Apollo. Percy Jackson’s fans probably know that Asclepius was one of Athena’s favorites! The Goddess gave him a vial of Gorgon Blood which allowed him to cure any illness, heal any injury, and even bring back the dead. Jason and his friends used the Physician’s Cure, a magic potion given to them by Asclepius, to bring Leo Valdez back to live after a fierce battle with Gaea, the Greek primordial goddess of the Earth.

During this Percy Jackson Mythology Olympia tour, you will visit the birthplace of the Olympic Games!

If your kids have read “The Blood of Olympus” they will know that this is where Percy Jackson and his friends battle Nike. In the book, they amusingly suggest that Adidas shoes are better than Nike! In reality, though, Olympia was the place where athletes gathered from all over the Greek world to compete against each other in games of skill and strength.

ancient Olympia ruins KidsLoveGreece.com

During your time at Olympia, your guide will explain how the Greek city-states held truces which prevented them from going to war at the times of the Olympic Games. This meant that athletes could travel to Olympia in safety. It must have been quite an occasion in ancient times, with all those athletes coming from near and far away!

Your kids will be so excited to see where the famous Statue of Zeus, one of the 7 Wonders of the World was placed. The statue might be long gone however parts of the temple remain. The statues that have survived from the temple are stunningly displayed in the on-site museum.

And what about creating your own Olympic Games? Our guide will encourage you and your kids to race against each other on a track used thousands of years ago! After this fun-filled trip to Olympia, you will be returned to your hotel.

Mycenae was one of the most important Greek city-states of the ancient world. It is mentioned in many myths and legends, with perhaps the most famous character being King Agamemnon who is known for his role in the war against Troy.

In Rick Riordan’s novel, ‘The Last Olympian’, Achilles’ ghost appeared before Percy Jackson to warn him about the dangers of bathing in the River Styx. He explained that if Percy is successful at surviving the bath in the Styx, his prowess in combat would be greater than any other mortal, but his weaknesses would increase as well. Percy admired Achilles.

I stunk at Greek names, but even I knew the greatest warrior of all time, who had died from a wounded heel- Percy said to his friend Nico as the ghost of the Greek warrior appeared before him.

Our guide will show you around this UNESCO World Heritage Site, and explain more about the myths and legends associated with it. Your kids will love exploring the ancient ruins of this once powerful city, as well as learning more about Greek mythology through interactive games and other activities throughout the day.

The wider archaeological site of Mycenae really shows off the impressive architecture of the Mycenaeans. After this visit, you and your kids will understand why the Mycenaean civilization ranks among the greatest in Europe!

We recommend you to start your Percy Jackson experience in Crete by visiting the famous Palace of Knossos. This is considered to be the oldest city in Europe, and was once the center of the powerful Minoan Empire. It is also thought to be where the legend of the Labyrinth and the Minotaur originated from.

Our local guide will show you around the site, explaining the importance of the Minoan civilization, and the legends and myths connected with the site. Percy Jackson fans may already know about the Minotaur and King Minos, but there are more stories waiting to be discovered!

Palace of Knossos Crete Percy Jackson

After the archaeological site, you will visit the Archaeological Museum of Heraklion. The museum exhibits many of the treasures and artifacts found at Knossos and other sites on Crete. One intriguing item, is the Phaistos Disc. Thought to date back over 4000 years, no one has been able to decipher the curious text written upon it. Will your kids be the ones to crack the code and reveal to the world what the writing says?

The second half of the day will be spent on a guided tour through the streets of Heraklion. Your guide will show you the highlights of the town, explain a little about Cretan culture, point out some hidden gems, and mention the best places to eat.

Contact us today and find out how you can create your own Percy Jackson Mythology tour for families flexible trip. The Kids Love Greece possibilities are endless. We will be more than happy to assist you in creating the most memorable Percy Jackson Mythology experience of your life!

There are so many great options, we don’t even know what to request! We are interested in exploring the historical sites, and the escape room tour, but also in a food tour and also in a sailing excursion – or at least a day or two to swim/snorkel and relax.

I’d love to hear ideas and costs and availability associated with any of these ideas.

  • Hi there,
Our friends are holidaying in Crete 20-27 July. We are interested in a holiday in Greece that ends in or includes joining them 24-27 July. We could travel to Greece perhaps 3-4 days before or after these dates.
Our 10 year old son is fascinated by greek mythology and loves anything related to Percy Jackson. Meanwhile our 14 year old daughter also loves reading, art, history, maths and science.
I am wondering whether to focus only on travelling to Crete or how it might work to combine the best tour with two or more locations.
Secondly, as we may be limited to dates available due to my husband’s work, I am wondering whether to consider going to Athens on a second trip to Greece perhaps in December.
    Best regards,
    Georgina
