Do I Need a PCR Test to Leave Greece?

We are traveling to Greece soon. I know that we have to carry a PCR test to enter Greece. But, do I need a PCR test to leave Greece as well?

Updated: May 2022

Always check with your airline first regarding your return flight. Each country has its own regulations regarding travelers coming from abroad.

Before leaving Greece, it is customary to present a negative PCR test or a rapid Antigent test (administered at a pharmacy or health center) – up to 24 hours before departure. It is strongly advised that you check with your airline.

Always check the regulations of the country of arrival (including transit country regulations, if any).

For example, as per US government requirements, U.S. citizens traveling to the U.S. by land or sea aren’t required to get tested for COVID-19 or show their vaccination status before entering the U.S.

You don't need one to leave Greece, you may need one to reenter your country of origin, your country's restrictions and demands are what you should be looking for.

Well said Olivier, you're 100% right! For example, as of today (July 1st 2021), for the US, you currently need  PCR tests for both vaccinated and unvaccinated people for the age of 2 years old (see LINK).

It is important to check with your airline as well as your country (as well as transit countries).

Restrictions change very often.
