Is the Peloponnese Close to Athens?

We'll be visiting Athens soon. We would like to take a road trip to the Peloponnese and visit archaeological sites like Epidaurus, Mycenae and the city of Nafplion. So our question is, is the Peloponnese close to Athens? And what is the distance between the three places we want to visit?

Absolutely. A family road trip from Athens is a smart way to explore the Peloponnese. Check out all the reasons here:  Why the Peloponnese is perfect for a family road trip in Greece. That being said, you'll be happy to know that the Peloponnese Peninsula is only 55 miles (about 90 km) from Athens. Thus, you can reach it by car in about an hour.

Imagine small mountain villages, beautiful unspoiled stretches of coastline, Venetian Castles and UNESCO World Heritage sites. You can experience all this and much more when you take a family road trip to the Peloponnese region of Greece.

From there, it's also easy to visit the three archeological sites you mentioned. The ancient Theatre of Epidaurus is only 2 hours away from Athens and can be your first stop. From Epidaurus, it will take you about 30 minutes to visit the city of Nafplion, which is an amazing family destination.

Finally, Mycenae is only 25 minutes from Nafplio and can be your last stop before heading back to Athens. We have recently introduced an innovative self-drive tour for families that includes all your desired destinations in the Peloponnese and can be customized to your needs and preferences.
