Which Are the Best Beaches for Kids in Santorini?

Which are the best kid-friendly beaches in Santorini?

There are a lot of swimming spots all over Santorini but not all are family-friendly. Although visiting a volcanic beach is a unique experience, the sand in the volcanic beaches in Santorini is black which can be scorching hot in the midday sun. We recommend that you get some water shoes for your kids!

Our favorite beach in Santorini for kids is Perissa and Monolithos.

Try to visit several beaches, not necessarily for swimming. To us, one of the main attractions is also the different color of sand! For example, kids will realize that not all beaches have yellow sand… in Santorini there are beaches with black, red and even white sand!

It is worth visiting the Red Beach and the White Beach mainly because of the fantastic unique scenery. Bear in mind that most of the sailing trips stop there as well (you can see them from a distance as they cannot dock there).

The Red Beach is located in the southern part of the island near Fira. The red rocks give the beach its unique reddish color and the water is warmer due to the constant volcanic activity. However, the access to the beach is rough and steep so you may as well just decide to admire it from the cliff.
