Family Day trip to Hydra

The tour begins at Piraeus, the port of Athens. Here, you will board the hydrofoil for a quick trip across the Saronic Gulf, and on to the harbor on Hydra.

You will walk around the beautiful main port town and its elegant 18th-century buildings and stop for a morning coffee and snacks.

As Hydra is traffic-free, donkeys and carriages are still a common form of transport in the town. Kids will love a horseback ride around the capital town!

You will then be taken to enjoy a refreshing swim nearby and cool off in the crystalline waters. Alternatively, you can choose to visit another beach with a water taxi! Lunch will follow in a local restaurant, with a moment to unwind and take it all in.

When lunch is over, you will be returned to Hydra Town where you can spend more time exploring the enchanting side streets and alleyways. Your hosts will point out historic residences and other buildings of importance, along with artists’ workshops and boutique shops.

The sightseeing trip around the town finishes in a pastry shop that is famous for its delicious homemade sweets. The kids will love tasting ‘amygdalota’ — a traditional sweet made of almonds. And don’t forget the homemade ice cream: it’s the perfect ending to a relaxing day on the beautiful Greek island of Hydra. All that remains is to board the hydrofoil and enjoy the return trip to Athens.
