2-day Family Tour in Kea Island

The island of Kea is only 2 hours away from Athens by road and ferry, but feels a million miles apart. The laid back life, amazing beaches, great restaurants, ancient ruins and forests all add to its appeal. Are you ready to enjoy a 2-day family tour in Kea island?

The island of Kea is often overlooked by visiting tourists who head off to the more well known Greek islands. In one way, this is a shame, as they are certainly missing out. In another though, it means that you have the opportunity to enjoy one of the most interesting destinations in Greece without the tourist crowds.

Your 2-day family tour in Kea island begins when we collect you from Athens, and drive to the ferry port at Lavrio. From here, the ferry crossing takes an hour to reach Kea. Once you have been checked in to your hotel, we will take a walk through the quiet and picturesque alleyways of Chora-Ioulis, stopping for a traditional Greek coffee and a pastry along the way.

On leaving Chora, we follow one of the many hiking paths that interconnect the island to reach an ancient stone statue of a lion which is the symbol of the island. We then continue the walk on to Otzias beach, where everyone has earned a swim in clear waters!

Refreshed from the swim, the next stop is at a small agritourism farm, where you can see how pasteli is made, and where you can also enjoy a light lunch. Refueled, there is then time to visit a folklore museum and a water mill before returning to the hotel for a little siesta, and then dining out at one of the many high quality seafood restaurants.

On day 2, your family climbs aboard a 4×4 for a jeep excursion of Kea! This is the best way to get off the beaten track, and you can head down to remote coves and beaches at the more rugged areas of the island. On the itinerary are visiting ancient temples, windmills, and lighthouses. This is a great day of sightseeing and picture taking, and the kids are sure to love the sense of adventure!

When it gets to the afternoon, it is time to drive over to the port, catch the ferry to the mainland, and return to Athens. This 2-day family tour in Kea island is a great way to see a part of Greece where wealthy Athenians have holiday homes and few other tourists visit. The perfect glimpse of the laid back Mediterranean lifestyle!
