Pelion Ski Resort
Mount Pelion reaches an altitude of 1500mts which makes it a favourite winter getaway for many Greeks. The ski resort is located just 2kms away from the village of Chania and there is a daily bus service from Volos.
The centre has 7 slopes (with different levels of difficulty) and five lifts of which one is double-seated, two are single-seated, and there are two rail lifts. Overall the lifts can facilitate up to 500 people per hour and remain open from December to April.
If your little fellows want to learn to ski lessons can be arranged on the special beginners slope. Apart from skiing you can also try snowboarding.
A chalet café offering local delicacies and hot beverages is always open should you need to catch your breath and get warmed up.
You can also stay at the 80 bed hostel so you wake by the slopes ready to enjoy a full day’s skiing.
The highlight of the ski centre, however, is undoubtedly the view as it overlooks the Pagasitic Gulf and from one side and the Aegean Sea from the other. This unique combination makes for an unforgettable skiing experience.
