It is however a quite long drive from Athens (approximately 4.5 hrs drive or even a bit longer depending on the traffic). For this reason, a day trip to Meteora from Athens is not recommended. In case you may wish to visit Meteora, I would suggest that you spend 1 night in Kalabaka.
