Hersonissos Beaches, Crete

One of the most popular summer resorts in Crete, located just 28km east of Heraklion, Hersonissos offers some of the best kid-friendly beaches on the island and a variety of fun activities for the whole family.

The main beach of Hersonissos stretches along the seaside promenade of the tourist town, where you will find whatever you desire: a variety of traditional and international restaurants, commercial shops, tourist services, bars, and cafeterias.

All beaches in Hersonissos are sandy and well organized, with calm crystal clear waters, perfect for families. However, the best beaches of Hersonissos are located in the west, the so-called “Limanakia”, which are well protected from the winds by Cape Sarandaris. The most famous of the “Limanakia” coves is Sarandaris beach.

East of Hersonissos town you will find several lovely coves with fine sand in front of large hotels. The one in front of hotel Silva Maris is the most organized for families with a lifeguard and many facilities.
